OFFSET to AF-163-2 by 3M™
3M™ AF-163-2 was designed as a 250F cure adhesive film with versatile cure cycles from 180F to 300F. It is used for both laminate and honeycomb core structures. The original formula has good adaptability to many bonding procedures and materials, and has thus found its way into a wide range of qualified applications. Mako's updated formulation carries many of the same traits to allow for wide adoption - yet is PFAS-free, with more benign chemistry, lower MOQ, shorter lead time, and easy procurement.
Original versions of 3M™ AF-163-2 film adhesive contained asbestos & had strong phenolic odors. Mako's new formula features reduced odor, and improved OSHA standing with no phenol formaldehyde. Mako's AF-1000N offset also has the ability to produce smaller batch sizes, with increased toughness. Furthermore, Mako's film adhesive offset to 3M™ AF-163-2 has meaningfully longer outlife versus the original formula's short 5 days.
